My own Darling One. -
It was good to hear you voice
and to know you got in in 4 hrs.
What awful weather you had -.
Joan took Penna out - had a little
sunshine - then dull. I got a
sleep - & Gillian slept till 3-30p.m.
Then we moved the rooms - and
here are diagrams.
We have now a lovely bright
room - the dark furniture
being moved & Childrens things
brought in seems to brighten it
even more - I shall be very happy
with the thought of the Children in
this room.
The back room with the dark oak
furniture is quite a nice
dignified little room. W is quite
a nice little retreat for me if I
want to escape the Children in
the daytime - either for morning
work at my desk - or tea in the
easy Chair with the little oak table.
In the evening I can lie back
on my Couch in the front room
which Joan will make tidy for me
while I put Gillian to bed.
In the afternoon also I can lie on
my Couch near Penna in her pen
without the fog of setting up the pen
or waiting for Joan to clear the table
which she can do at her leisure -
We shall have breakfast in the front
room - Penna in her Pen & Gillian & me
at the low table - Dinner in state in
the dining room with the electric
fire -
It will be interesting to see how
it works out.
That little dining room will
make a delightful room for the
girls when they are bigger - I
expect by then they will want
to use most of the shelves for books
and each have a cupboard for
their things - They could do their
lessons or play games round the
dining table - and Gillian's desk
be substituted for mine -
Gillian's doll's house with the map of
the world over it looks very
well in the front room where the dress
used to stand - I changed the
ornaments of the two rooms - but not
the pictures -
I'm tired now - as I expect you are
- it is 8.30 p.m. - but I'll try and
post this before 9 a.m. - in the hopes
that you will get it before Sunday -
My darling One - I only wish I could
have given you a better holiday -
this time - but it has been a difficult
autumn. The Children seem gloriously
fit now - and I'll keep on with the end.
hries.oil. which I'm sure helps - also they
shall have all the sunshine & fresh air I
can give them - and we'll pull through
the winter in fine form -.
I do hope your affairs will straighten
out soon. Oh I'm so glad your lovely
little home is complete now and that
you have Miss Stevens to take care of
you - Eat well, darling, you simply
mustn't get so thin again.
All my love - and God keep you. I'll
gladly come to you whenever you wish -
